Points
Definition
The scoring value of cards: Aces=11, Tens=10, Kings=4, Queens=3, Jacks=2, 9/8/7=0. Total in deck: 120.
Points in play
There are exactly 120 points in the deck - Aces 11, Tens 10, Kings 4, Queens 3, Jacks 2, and the 9, 8, 7 worth nothing - and the picker's team needs 61 to win. Two further numbers matter: holding the other side under 31 is schneider (double), and to zero tricks is schwarz (triple). Because a Ten is worth 10 yet ranks below the Ace, capturing or protecting Tens is a swing the whole count often hinges on.
