Trump In

Definition

To play a trump card when a fail suit was led (because you have none of that fail suit). A way to win tricks you otherwise couldn't.

Trump In in play

To trump in is to play a trump when a fail suit is led because you are void in that suit - a way to steal a trick you otherwise could not contest. Creating voids, through burying or short-suit leads, is what sets up trumping in. Be careful trumping in with a low trump from an early seat, since a player behind you can overtrump it.
